Description

Cinnamon Sugar Soft Pretzels are warm, chewy, and coated in sweet cinnamon sugar. Perfect for snacking, movie nights, or parties, this treat is a delightful twist on the classic pretzel.

Ingredients

Scale

1 1/2 cups warm water

2 tablespoons granulated sugar

2 teaspoons salt

1 packet active dry yeast

4 cups all-purpose flour

1/4 cup baking soda

1 large egg (for egg wash)

1/2 cup unsalted butter (melted)

1/2 cup sugar (for coating)

1 tablespoon cinnamon

Instructions

1. In a bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and salt. Stir in the yeast and let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.

2. Add the flour and mix until a dough forms. Knead the dough for about 5–7 minutes until smooth.

3. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for about an hour until it doubles in size.

4. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).

5. In a large pot, bring 10 cups of water and the baking soda to a boil.

6. Divide the dough into pieces and roll each into a rope, shaping them into pretzels.

7. Boil each pretzel for about 30 seconds in the baking soda water.

8. Transfer the pretzels to a baking sheet and brush with egg wash.

9. Mix sugar and cinnamon in a bowl and sprinkle it over the pretzels.

10. Bake for 12–14 minutes or until golden brown.

11. Brush with melted butter and sprinkle with additional cinnamon sugar before serving.

Notes

Make sure the water is warm (not hot) when activating yeast.

Kneading helps develop gluten for a chewier texture.

Boiling is essential for classic pretzel flavor.

Adjust cinnamon sugar coating to taste.

Try adding vanilla or dipping in chocolate sauce for variations.
