Description

Delightfully eerie cookies shaped like fingers, filled with sweet jam, perfect for Halloween festivities.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract
  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • A pinch of salt
  • Your choice of jam (raspberry, apricot, etc.)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Cream together the softened butter and powdered sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the egg and almond extract until well blended.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. Scoop tablespoon-sized pieces of dough and roll them into finger shapes.
  7. Create fine indentations to mimic skin texture and press a blanched almond at the tip.
  8. Create an indentation in the middle of each finger.
  9. Place the cookies on the baking sheet with enough space between them.
  10. Bake for about 12-15 minutes or until the edges turn lightly golden.
  11. Let them cool for a minute before adding a dollop of jam into the indentation of each cookie.
  12. Allow them to cool completely before indulging!

Notes

Chill the dough for 30 minutes before shaping to maintain the finger-like appearance. Use a thicker fruit preserve to prevent runny jam fillings.
