Description

A comforting baked dish combining warm apples and oats, perfect for chilly mornings and family gatherings.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups rolled oats
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • A pinch of nutmeg
  • 2 cups milk (dairy or plant-based)
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 23 cups apples (chopped)
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans
  • A pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine rolled oats, baking powder, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together milk, eggs, brown sugar, and maple syrup until well blended.
  4. Chop the apples and add them to the oat mixture along with the chopped nuts.
  5. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry mixture and stir until just moistened; do not overmix.
  6. Pour the mixture into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish and sprinkle the top with additional brown sugar.
  7. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until the top is golden brown and set.
  8. Allow to cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

For extra flavor, serve warm with a dollop of yogurt or a splash of cream.
