Description

A comforting and flavorful Sweet Potato Casserole, perfect for autumn gatherings and holiday feasts.


Ingredients

  • 4 large sweet potatoes
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Salt, to taste
  • 1 cup chopped pecans (or mini marshmallows) for topping

Instructions

  1. Peel and cube the sweet potatoes.
  2. Boil the sweet potatoes in salted water until fork-tender.
  3. Mash the sweet potatoes with butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  4. Mix chopped pecans with brown sugar and butter for the topping.
  5. Spread the topping evenly over the mashed sweet potatoes in a baking dish.
  6. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for about 30 minutes or until golden and bubbly.
  7. Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

For a vegan version, substitute brown sugar with coconut sugar and use plant-based butter. Avoid over-boiling sweet potatoes to maintain texture.
