Description
Delightful soft sugar cookies that capture the spirit of Halloween with vibrant decorations and comforting flavors.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup Unsalted Butter, softened
- 1 1/2 cups Granulated Sugar
- 2 large Eggs
- 3 1/2 cups All-Purpose Flour
- 1 tsp Baking Powder
- 1/2 tsp Baking Soda
- 1/2 tsp Salt
- 2 tsp Vanilla Extract
- 1 tsp Almond Extract (optional)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, cream the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract, and mix until well incorporated.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add this mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Scoop tablespoon-size portions of dough and roll them into balls. Press the balls down to create shapes.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are just set but the centers remain soft. Let them cool before transferring them to a wire rack.
- Once cool, decorate your cookies with colorful icing and sprinkles.
Notes
Using a cookie scoop will help ensure uniform cookies, and rotating your baking sheets halfway through baking promotes even cooking.
