Description

Delightful soft sugar cookies that capture the spirit of Halloween with vibrant decorations and comforting flavors.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup Unsalted Butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups Granulated Sugar
  • 2 large Eggs
  • 3 1/2 cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 1 tsp Baking Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Baking Soda
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 2 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 1 tsp Almond Extract (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, cream the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract, and mix until well incorporated.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add this mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  3. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  4. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Scoop tablespoon-size portions of dough and roll them into balls. Press the balls down to create shapes.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are just set but the centers remain soft. Let them cool before transferring them to a wire rack.
  6. Once cool, decorate your cookies with colorful icing and sprinkles.

Notes

Using a cookie scoop will help ensure uniform cookies, and rotating your baking sheets halfway through baking promotes even cooking.
