- 1 3/4 cups powdered sugar
- 3 large egg whites
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter (or plant-based butter)
- Flavorings (vanilla or almond extract)
- Food coloring (red and green)
Instructions
- Prepare the baking sheets by lining with parchment paper.
- In a clean bowl, whip egg whites until foamy; gradually add granulated sugar and whip to stiff peaks.
- Sift almond flour and powdered sugar together, then gently fold into the meringue without deflating it.
- Divide the mixture and add food coloring for red and green shades.
- Pipe circles onto the lined sheets, leaving space for spreading.
- Let macarons sit for 30-60 minutes to form a skin.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 300°F (150°C) for 15-20 minutes.
- Cool completely, then fill with flavored buttercream or ganache and sandwich together.
- Chill in the refrigerator for at least 24 hours before serving.
