Description

Delightful and festive macarons filled with chocolate ganache or peppermint cream, perfect for the holiday season.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup almond flour
  • 1 3/4 cups powdered sugar
  • 3 large egg whites
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter (or plant-based butter)
  • Flavorings (vanilla or almond extract)
  • Food coloring (red and green)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the baking sheets by lining with parchment paper.
  2. In a clean bowl, whip egg whites until foamy; gradually add granulated sugar and whip to stiff peaks.
  3. Sift almond flour and powdered sugar together, then gently fold into the meringue without deflating it.
  4. Divide the mixture and add food coloring for red and green shades.
  5. Pipe circles onto the lined sheets, leaving space for spreading.
  6. Let macarons sit for 30-60 minutes to form a skin.
  7. Bake in a preheated oven at 300°F (150°C) for 15-20 minutes.
  8. Cool completely, then fill with flavored buttercream or ganache and sandwich together.
  9. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 24 hours before serving.

Notes

Be patient and precise with measurements. Macarons require practice; don’t be discouraged by initial failures.
