Description
A delightful fusion of juicy beef patties with the rich flavors of pizza, topped with melted mozzarella and fresh herbs.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground beef (80/20)
- 1 tsp fine sea salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp olive oil, divided
- 1 cup marinara sauce
- 8 slices mozzarella (or 1½ cups shredded)
- 8 slices pepperoni or 1 cup sliced sautéed mushrooms
- 4 burger buns
- 2 tbsp butter, softened
- 2 tbsp fresh basil, torn
- Optional: grated Parmesan, chili flakes
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine the ground beef with salt, pepper, and half the minced garlic. Form four even patties.
- Heat 1 tbsp olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 3–4 minutes per side.
- Sauté the onion in the same pan until translucent, then stir in the remaining garlic.
- Spoon 2–3 tbsp of marinara sauce over each patty, then nestle slices of mozzarella on top.
- Cover the skillet briefly until the cheese melts, about 1–2 minutes.
- Spread butter on cut sides of the buns and toast in a separate skillet until golden.
- Assemble by layering the bottom bun with marinara, the patty, pepperoni or mushrooms, torn basil, and Parmesan.
Notes
For a vegetarian option, substitute beef with ground turkey or plant-based patties.
