Pizza Burgers

Description

A delightful fusion of juicy beef patties with the rich flavors of pizza, topped with melted mozzarella and fresh herbs.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20)
  • 1 tsp fine sea salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp olive oil, divided
  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • 8 slices mozzarella (or 1½ cups shredded)
  • 8 slices pepperoni or 1 cup sliced sautéed mushrooms
  • 4 burger buns
  • 2 tbsp butter, softened
  • 2 tbsp fresh basil, torn
  • Optional: grated Parmesan, chili flakes

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine the ground beef with salt, pepper, and half the minced garlic. Form four even patties.
  2. Heat 1 tbsp olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 3–4 minutes per side.
  3. Sauté the onion in the same pan until translucent, then stir in the remaining garlic.
  4. Spoon 2–3 tbsp of marinara sauce over each patty, then nestle slices of mozzarella on top.
  5. Cover the skillet briefly until the cheese melts, about 1–2 minutes.
  6. Spread butter on cut sides of the buns and toast in a separate skillet until golden.
  7. Assemble by layering the bottom bun with marinara, the patty, pepperoni or mushrooms, torn basil, and Parmesan.

Notes

For a vegetarian option, substitute beef with ground turkey or plant-based patties.
