Description
A comforting dish combining the savory flavors of ham with the sweet tang of caramelized pineapple, perfect for family gatherings and celebrations.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 bone-in ham
- 1 fresh pineapple or canned slices
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup Dijon mustard
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
- Fresh herbs like rosemary or thyme (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C). Place your ham on a roasting pan.
- In a small bowl, mix together brown sugar, Dijon mustard, and ground cloves to create the glaze.
- Score the surface of the ham in a diamond pattern.
- Generously spread the glaze over the ham, ensuring it seeps into the scored areas.
- Place pineapple slices around and on top of the ham, reserving the juice if using canned.
- Roast the ham for about 15 to 18 minutes per pound, basting with pineapple juice every 30 minutes.
- When the ham reaches an internal temperature of 140°F (60°C), remove it from the oven and let it rest for 15 minutes.
- Slice the ham, serve with the caramelized pineapple, and enjoy!
Notes
Baste regularly for maximum flavor. Avoid rushing the cooking process to maintain juiciness.
