A simple and delicious recipe for making Perfect Sushi Rice that enhances your sushi experience.
Ingredients

- 2 cups sushi rice (or short-grain rice as a substitute)
- 2 ½ cups water
- 1/3 cup rice vinegar
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Rinse the rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
- Soak the rinsed rice in fresh water for 30 minutes.
- Drain and transfer the rice to a rice cooker or saucepan with 2 ½ cups of water. Cook according to device instructions or bring to a boil then simmer covered for 20 minutes.
- While cooking, combine rice vinegar, sugar, and salt in a saucepan to dissolve.
- Transfer cooked rice to a large bowl. Gently fold in the vinegar mixture while fluffing the rice. Let cool to room temperature.
Notes
Be gentle when fluffing the rice to avoid breaking the grains.
