Description

A simple and delicious recipe for making Perfect Sushi Rice that enhances your sushi experience.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups sushi rice (or short-grain rice as a substitute)
  • 2 ½ cups water
  • 1/3 cup rice vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Rinse the rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
  2. Soak the rinsed rice in fresh water for 30 minutes.
  3. Drain and transfer the rice to a rice cooker or saucepan with 2 ½ cups of water. Cook according to device instructions or bring to a boil then simmer covered for 20 minutes.
  4. While cooking, combine rice vinegar, sugar, and salt in a saucepan to dissolve.
  5. Transfer cooked rice to a large bowl. Gently fold in the vinegar mixture while fluffing the rice. Let cool to room temperature.

Notes

Be gentle when fluffing the rice to avoid breaking the grains.
