Ingredients

- 3 cups whole wheat flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 cup molasses
- 1 cup buttermilk
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large bowl, whisk together the whole wheat flour, baking soda, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, mix the molasses and buttermilk until well blended.
- Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
- Turn the dough onto a floured surface and gently knead it for just a minute to shape into a round loaf.
- Place the loaf on a baking sheet lined with parchment, and cut an “X” on top.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 30-35 minutes until golden and hollow-sounding when tapped.
- Allow cooling on a wire rack before slicing.
Notes
Serve warm with butter or alongside soups and stews for an elevated experience.
