Description

A comforting and nostalgic apple and rhubarb crumble with a crunchy topping, perfect for family gatherings.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 500g tart rhubarb, chopped
  • 500g cooking apples, peeled and sliced
  • 150g granulated sugar (or brown sugar)
  • 250g plain flour
  • 150g unsalted butter, cold and diced
  • 100g rolled oats (optional)
  • A pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and grease a baking dish.
  2. Mix rhubarb and apples with sugar and cinnamon in a large bowl; let sit for 15 minutes.
  3. Prepare the crumble by rubbing the cold butter into the flour until it resembles breadcrumbs.
  4. Stir in oats and additional sugar if desired.
  5. Spread the fruit in the baking dish and top with the crumble mixture.
  6. Bake for 35–40 minutes until golden brown and bubbling.

Notes

Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or clotted cream. For a twist, try using different fruits like strawberries or cherries.
