Description

A simple and delightful layered pumpkin dessert that captures the essence of autumn with warm spices and a buttery cake base.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can pumpkin puree
  • 1 box yellow or spice cake mix
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the cake mix with melted butter, eggs, and milk, mixing until smooth.
  3. Pour half of the cake batter into a greased baking dish and spread it evenly.
  4. In another bowl, mix together the pumpkin, eggs, sour cream, and spices, then pour over the cake base.
  5. Dollop the remaining cake batter over the pumpkin layer without spreading it too perfectly.
  6. Bake for 50-60 minutes until set, and a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Let cool for 15 minutes before serving warm, optionally with whipped cream.

Notes

Rotate the cake halfway through baking for even cooking. Avoid overmixing the batter to keep the cake light and fluffy.
