Description

A traditional beverage from Kashmir, this comforting pink tea combines green tea, cardamom, and crushed almonds for a luxurious sip.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups water
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons green tea leaves
  • Pinch of baking soda
  • 2 cups whole milk (or plant-based option)
  • 23 crushed cardamom pods
  • Sugar or sweetener to taste
  • Rose water (optional)
  • Crushed almonds for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a large saucepan, bring about 4 cups of water to a rolling boil.
  2. Once boiling, add 1 to 2 tablespoons of green tea leaves and a pinch of baking soda. Stir well.
  3. Reduce heat and whisk the tea vigorously for about 10–15 minutes.
  4. Strain the tea into another pot, discarding the leaves. Add 2 cups of milk and return to heat.
  5. Introduce crushed cardamom and sugar, allowing to simmer gently for 5–10 minutes.
  6. If using, add rose water right before serving.
  7. Pour into cups, garnish with crushed almonds, and enjoy.

Notes

For an added touch, serve with traditional savory snacks that pair beautifully with the creaminess of the tea.
