- 1 lb boneless chicken thighs or breasts, cut into 1-inch cubes
- 1/3 cup honey
- 3 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons rice vinegar or lemon juice
- 4 cloves fresh garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 tablespoon neutral oil
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Pinch of red pepper flakes
- Chopped fresh parsley or sliced scallions for garnish
Instructions
- Trim excess fat from chicken and cut into bite-sized pieces.
- In a bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, vinegar, minced garlic, and red pepper flakes. Set aside.
- Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and add oil and butter. Once the butter foams, add chicken in a single layer and sear for 2–3 minutes.
- Add another minced garlic clove, stir, then pour in the honey-soy mixture and deglaze the pan. Bring to a simmer.
- Add cornstarch slurry if using, stirring until the sauce thickens, about 1–2 minutes.
- Turn off the heat and add a knob of butter for richness. Garnish and serve.
Notes
Pat chicken dry before searing for a better crust. Use fresh garlic for the best flavor. Adjust sauce with water if it thickens too much.
