A simple recipe for homemade garlic paste that enhances the flavor of your dishes with fresh and rich garlic.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup fresh garlic cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup neutral oil (canola or vegetable oil)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice (optional)

Instructions

  1. Peel the garlic cloves by giving the flat side of your chef’s knife a gentle whack to remove the skins.
  2. Place the peeled cloves on a cutting board and sprinkle a little salt over them. Mash the garlic with the side of the knife until it forms a smooth paste.
  3. Transfer the mashed garlic into a bowl and gradually incorporate the neutral oil until you achieve the desired creamy consistency.
  4. If using, mix in the lemon juice to enhance flavor and preserve color.
  5. Store the garlic paste in an airtight container in the refrigerator for freshness.
