Description

A whimsical Halloween cake designed to look like a graveyard, featuring layers of moist chocolate cake, creamy chocolate frosting, crushed Oreo ‘soil,’ and chocolate finger ‘gravestones’.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 box chocolate cake mix
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 jar chocolate frosting
  • 1 package Oreo cookies
  • 1 package chocolate fingers candy

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine chocolate cake mix, eggs, oil, and water. Mix until smooth.
  3. Pour batter into prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Let cool completely.
  4. Place one cake layer on a serving platter and frost generously with chocolate frosting. Add the second layer on top and frost the entire cake.
  5. Crush Oreo cookies in a plastic bag until they resemble dirt and sprinkle over the frosted cake.
  6. Insert chocolate fingers around the top edge to create gravestone decorations.
  7. For extra flair, add gummy worms or spiders on top before serving.

Notes

Ensure the cakes are completely cool before frosting to prevent melting. Use an offset spatula for a smooth frosting finish.
