Description

Delightful chocolate chip cookies perfect for Halloween, topped with spooky spider webs for a festive touch.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • Melted chocolate or black icing (for spider topping)
  • Edible eyes (for decoration)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Cream together softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar in a large mixing bowl until light and fluffy (about 2 minutes).
  3. Add eggs one at a time, mixing thoroughly after each addition, then mix in vanilla extract.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
  5. Fold in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
  6. Drop tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, ensuring space between each cookie.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until edges are golden and centers look slightly underbaked.
  8. Cool cookies on the baking sheet for a few minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  9. Melt more chocolate for spider topping and use a piping bag to create spider webs on top of each cookie, finishing with candy eyes.

Notes

For a gluten-free version, substitute all-purpose flour with gluten-free flour. Chill the dough for 30 minutes before baking for a thicker cookie.
