Ingredients
Scale
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
- Melted chocolate or black icing (for spider topping)
- Edible eyes (for decoration)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Cream together softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar in a large mixing bowl until light and fluffy (about 2 minutes).
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing thoroughly after each addition, then mix in vanilla extract.
- In another bowl, whisk together all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
- Fold in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
- Drop tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, ensuring space between each cookie.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes or until edges are golden and centers look slightly underbaked.
- Cool cookies on the baking sheet for a few minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Melt more chocolate for spider topping and use a piping bag to create spider webs on top of each cookie, finishing with candy eyes.
Notes
For a gluten-free version, substitute all-purpose flour with gluten-free flour. Chill the dough for 30 minutes before baking for a thicker cookie.
