A delightful recreation of the iconic Halal Guys Chicken and Rice, featuring marinated chicken, fluffy rice, fresh salad, and creamy sauces.

- 4 boneless chicken thighs
- 1 cup plain yogurt
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp cumin
- 1 tsp paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 cup long-grain rice
- 2 cups water
- Fresh vegetables (romaine, tomatoes, red onion)
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 2 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- Hot sauce
- 1 tbsp honey (for red sauce)
Instructions
- Marinate the chicken: In a bowl, combine yogurt, garlic, cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper. Toss chicken in the marinade and refrigerate for at least one hour.
- Cook the rice: Rinse the rice until the water runs clear. In a pot, combine rice, water, and salt, bring to a boil, then cover and simmer for 15 minutes.
- Sauté the chicken: Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook the marinated chicken for 6-8 minutes on each side until golden brown and cooked through. Let rest and then slice.
- Prepare the toppings: Chop vegetables and mix mayonnaise, lemon juice, and garlic for the white sauce. Combine hot sauce and honey for the spicy red sauce.
- Assemble the dish: Serve rice topped with sliced chicken, fresh vegetables, and drizzle both sauces before enjoying.
Notes
For added flavor, let the chicken marinate overnight and sprinkle some butter on the rice after cooking.
