Description

Delightful and colorful cookies capturing the essence of Independence Day celebrations.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened to room temperature
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup red, white, and blue sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy—this usually takes about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, and then incorporate the vanilla.
  4. Whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt in a separate bowl. Gradually add this mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring until combined.
  5. Fold in the colorful sprinkles, reserving some for topping.
  6. Scoop generous tablespoons of dough onto the prepared sheets, spacing them a few inches apart. Top each scoop with a few extra sprinkles.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes, just until the edges are golden but the centers remain soft.
  8. Let cool for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For added crunch, try incorporating finely chopped nuts or a sprinkle of flaky sea salt before baking!
