Description

Juicy hot dogs marinated in a flavorful mix of soy sauce, sesame oil, garlic, and ginger, grilled to perfection and topped with sautéed onions and jalapeños.

Ingredients

Scale
  • Juicy hot dogs (beef, pork, turkey, or preferred meat)
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon honey (or agave syrup for vegan)
  • 3 cloves fresh garlic (minced)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger (grated)
  • 1 teaspoon crushed red pepper
  • 1 jalapeño (sliced or diced)
  • 1 onion (sweet, thinly sliced)

Instructions

  1. Marinate the Dogs: In a mixing bowl, combine soy sauce, sesame oil, honey, minced garlic, grated ginger, and crushed red pepper. Whisk until well blended. Place the hot dogs in a resealable plastic bag, pour the marinade over them, and let them soak for at least 30 minutes at room temperature or up to 4 hours in the refrigerator for a stronger flavor.
  2. Sauté the Onions: While the dogs are marinating, slice the onions thinly. In a skillet over medium heat, add a drizzle of olive oil. Add the onions and cook until they turn golden brown and slightly caramelized, about 10-15 minutes.
  3. Grill the Dogs: Preheat your grill to medium-high. Remove the hot dogs from the marinade and discard any leftover liquid. Grill them for about 5-7 minutes, turning occasionally until charred and heated through.
  4. Combine and Serve: Once grilled, place the hot dogs on toasted buns, top with sautéed onions, and add sliced jalapeños. Optionally, drizzle with sriracha or your favorite sauce.

Notes

Don’t skimp on the flames; those char marks are signals of the flavor coming through.
