Description
A comforting seafood casserole rich with shrimp, scallops, and flaky white fish, blended in a creamy sauce and topped with buttery breadcrumbs.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup fresh shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1 cup scallops
- 1 cup flaky white fish (like cod or haddock)
- 1/2 cup sautéed mushrooms (button or shiitake)
- 1/2 cup finely chopped onions
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cups cream or a mix of cream and milk
- 1 cup grated cheese (preferably cheddar)
- 1/2 cup seasoned breadcrumbs
- Fresh herbs (like parsley, dill, or thyme) to taste
- Juice of half a lemon
- Salt and pepper to season
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large skillet, melt 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat. Sauté onions until translucent. Add garlic and mushrooms; cook for another 2-3 minutes until softened.
- Stir in the cream, cheese, and lemon juice. Season with salt, pepper, and fresh herbs. Allow the mixture to bubble and thicken slightly.
- Fold in the seafood gently, being careful not to break apart the delicate fish or scallops.
- Transfer the mixture into a greased casserole dish. Top generously with seasoned breadcrumbs for that perfect golden crust.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until bubbly and golden brown on top. Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
For an extra cheesy topping, add some grated cheese to the breadcrumbs before baking. Ensure to avoid excess liquid in the casserole for the best texture.
