Description
Delightful cookie bars loaded with chocolate chips and M&M’s that evoke joy and nostalgia.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup M&M’s (plus extra for topping)
- A pinch of sea salt
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 9×13 inch baking pan with parchment paper.
- Cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
- In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually mix this dry mixture into the wet batter until just combined.
- Fold in the chocolate chips and M&M’s, saving a handful for topping.
- Spread the dough evenly in the prepared baking pan and bake for 20-25 minutes until the edges are golden and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
- Allow to cool in the pan for at least 15 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely. Slice into squares and serve.
Notes
For an extra special touch, drizzle melted chocolate on top once cooled.
