Description

Decadent cookies with crispy edges, chewy centers, and rich toffee and chocolate flavors, perfect for any occasion.


Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour (or up to 1/2 cup whole-wheat pastry flour)
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon fine sea salt, plus flaky salt for finishing
  • 1 cup unsalted butter (preferably browned)
  • 1 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs at room temperature
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups chocolate chunks (mix dark and milk)
  • 1 cup crushed millionaire toffee bits or chopped English toffee candy

Instructions

  1. Brown the butter in a light-colored skillet over medium heat, swirling often, until brown solids appear and it smells nutty. Let cool slightly.
  2. Whisk flour, baking soda, and salt in a bowl.
  3. Combine sugars and browned butter in a large bowl and beat until combined.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well, then stir in vanilla.
  5. Gradually fold in dry ingredients until you see a soft dough.
  6. Fold in chocolate chunks and toffee bits by hand.
  7. Scoop dough onto parchment-lined baking sheets, leaving ample room for spread.
  8. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 10–12 minutes or until edges are golden and centers are set but still soft.
  9. Remove cookies to a wire rack and sprinkle with flaky salt while still warm.
  10. For thicker cookies, chill dough for at least 30 minutes before baking.

Notes

Use a cookie scoop for uniform sizes. Rotate pans halfway through baking for even browning.
