Description
A delightful twist on the classic Italian tiramisu featuring bright limoncello and creamy mascarpone layers.
Ingredients
Scale
- 8 ounces mascarpone cheese
- 1/2 cup limoncello
- 24 ladyfingers
- 4 large egg yolks
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- Zest of 1 lemon
- Cocoa powder for dusting
Instructions
- Prepare the custard: In a large mixing bowl, whisk the egg yolks and sugar until pale and creamy. Gradually incorporate the mascarpone and lemon zest, folding gently to maintain fluffiness.
- Soak the ladyfingers: Pour the limoncello into a shallow dish. Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the limoncello, ensuring they are coated but not soggy. Arrange them in a single layer in a baking dish.
- Layer the tiramisu: Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the soaked ladyfingers. Repeat with another layer of soaked ladyfingers topped with the remaining mascarpone.
- Chill: Cover and refrigerate for at least 240 minutes or ideally overnight.
- Serve: Just before serving, dust with cocoa powder and lemon zest for an added touch.
Notes
Make sure not to over-soak the ladyfingers to prevent a soggy dessert. For extra flavor, consider infusing your limoncello with a sprig of rosemary or mint overnight.
