Description

A comforting and flavorful shrimp roll that combines sautéed shrimp, fresh herbs, and a zesty mayo dressing in a toasted bun.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb medium to large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 4 split-top brioche or New England-style hot dog buns
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 23 tbsp mayonnaise or aioli
  • 12 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 tbsp fresh chives, chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Pinch of smoked paprika or cayenne

Instructions

  1. Pat the shrimp dry with paper towels, and season lightly with salt, pepper, and a whisper of smoked paprika.
  2. Heat a skillet over medium heat, add 1 tbsp of butter, and toast the buns cut-side down until golden and crisp. Remove and keep warm.
  3. In the same skillet, add another pat of butter and drizzle of olive oil. Add minced garlic and cook for about 20 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Add shrimp in a single layer and cook for 1–2 minutes per side, until opaque and caramelized. Remove from heat and finish with a squeeze of lemon and chopped herbs.
  5. In a bowl, mix mayonnaise with lemon zest, a teaspoon of Dijon, chopped chives, and cayenne until smooth.
  6. Spoon a layer of dressing onto each toasted bun, fold in warm shrimp, and finish with fresh herbs and a sprinkle of flaky sea salt.

Notes

Always dry shrimp before cooking to help them brown; avoid overcrowding the pan. Balance richness with acid (lemon) and brightness (herbs) for best results.
