Description
A comforting and flavorful shrimp roll that combines sautéed shrimp, fresh herbs, and a zesty mayo dressing in a toasted bun.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb medium to large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 4 split-top brioche or New England-style hot dog buns
- 3 tbsp unsalted butter
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2–3 tbsp mayonnaise or aioli
- 1–2 tbsp fresh lemon juice
- 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
- 1 tbsp fresh chives, chopped
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Pinch of smoked paprika or cayenne
Instructions
- Pat the shrimp dry with paper towels, and season lightly with salt, pepper, and a whisper of smoked paprika.
- Heat a skillet over medium heat, add 1 tbsp of butter, and toast the buns cut-side down until golden and crisp. Remove and keep warm.
- In the same skillet, add another pat of butter and drizzle of olive oil. Add minced garlic and cook for about 20 seconds until fragrant.
- Add shrimp in a single layer and cook for 1–2 minutes per side, until opaque and caramelized. Remove from heat and finish with a squeeze of lemon and chopped herbs.
- In a bowl, mix mayonnaise with lemon zest, a teaspoon of Dijon, chopped chives, and cayenne until smooth.
- Spoon a layer of dressing onto each toasted bun, fold in warm shrimp, and finish with fresh herbs and a sprinkle of flaky sea salt.
Notes
Always dry shrimp before cooking to help them brown; avoid overcrowding the pan. Balance richness with acid (lemon) and brightness (herbs) for best results.
