Description
A simple yet elegant appetizer featuring sautéed mushrooms and creamy cheese, perfect for gatherings.
Ingredients
- Fresh mushrooms (8 ounces)
- Olive oil (2 tablespoons)
- Fresh garlic (2 cloves, minced)
- White wine or balsamic vinegar (2 tablespoons)
- Creamy cheese (4 ounces, such as goat cheese or cream cheese)
- Fresh herbs (1 tablespoon, chopped)
Instructions
- In a large skillet over medium heat, warm the olive oil. Add the mushrooms and a pinch of salt. Stir regularly, letting them cook down for about 5-7 minutes until golden brown.
- Toss in the minced garlic and sauté for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant. Add the white wine or balsamic vinegar, scraping the bottom of the skillet to lift any flavorful bits. Allow it to simmer for another 2 minutes.
- Reduce the heat to low, then stir in the cheese until it becomes creamy and melds with the mushrooms.
- Mix in the chopped fresh herbs, and season with black pepper to taste.
- Spoon the mixture onto small crostini or into individual serving dishes. Garnish with additional herbs or a sprinkle of chili flakes for a spicy kick.
Notes
For added crunch and flavor, consider adding toasted nuts such as pine nuts or walnuts.
