- 1 cup breadcrumbs (or panko)
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 cup chopped onion
- 2 cloves minced garlic
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp pepper
- 1 cup barbecue sauce
- 1/4 cup honey
- Optional spices: parsley or Italian seasoning
Instructions
- Combine ingredients: In a large bowl, mix together ground meat, breadcrumbs, egg, chopped onion, minced garlic, salt, pepper, and any optional herbs.
- Form meatballs: Roll the mixture into bite-sized meatballs, about 1 to 1.5 inches in diameter.
- Prepare the sauce: In a separate bowl, mix the barbecue sauce with honey until well incorporated.
- Layer in the crockpot: Place the meatballs in the crockpot and pour the honey barbecue sauce over them.
- Cook low and slow: Set the slow cooker to low and cook for about 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours.
- Serve and enjoy: Once done, the meatballs should be tender and soaked with the glaze.
Notes
Avoid overmixing to keep meatballs tender. For a thinner sauce, add a splash of water or broth before serving.
