Description
A delightful breakfast bowl combining creamy ricotta with bright citrus and sweet honeycomb for a comforting start to your day.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup whole-milk ricotta (or part-skim ricotta for a lighter texture)
- 2 cups fresh citrus segments (blood orange, navel orange, grapefruit, or a mix)
- 1/4 cup honeycomb pieces (or runny wildflower honey)
- 1/4 cup toasted nuts (hazelnuts, pistachios, or almonds)
- Fresh herbs (mint or thyme)
- Flaky sea salt
- Optional: Drizzle of olive oil or a pat of cultured butter
Instructions
- Prepare the citrus: Peel and segment the citrus over a bowl to catch the juices, then chop segments into bite-sized pieces.
- Drain the ricotta lightly: Spoon it into a fine sieve over a bowl for 15 minutes to thicken.
- Toast the nuts: Warm a small skillet over medium heat, add nuts, and toast until fragrant, about 3–5 minutes.
- Assemble the bowl: Spoon a generous portion of ricotta into a shallow bowl, scatter citrus segments over top, drizzle reserved citrus juices, add chopped nuts, and honeycomb pieces.
- Finish with seasoning: Sprinkle with flaky sea salt, add herbs, and a drizzle of olive oil if desired.
- Serve immediately and enjoy while fresh.
Notes
Perfect for winter mornings; feel free to adjust the citrus and nuts based on your preferences.
