  • Chicken or vegetable broth
  • Fresh parsley

  • Fresh thyme
  • Fresh rosemary
  • 1 Egg
  • Salt and pepper

Instructions

  1. Prepare cornbread and allow it to cool completely.
  2. In a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat and sauté chopped onions and celery until softened, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Add garlic towards the end to avoid burning.
  4. Remove sausage from casing and add to skillet, breaking it up and cooking until browned.
  5. In a large bowl, crumble the cornbread and add the cooked sausage mixture, chopped herbs, and enough broth to moisten.
  6. Incorporate egg and mix gently.
  7. Transfer to a greased baking dish, cover with foil, and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 30 minutes.
  8. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes to achieve a crispy topping.

Notes

Adjust the amount of broth to achieve your desired stuffing consistency. Experiment with different herbs and add red pepper flakes for heat if desired.
