Description

A comforting and hearty dish featuring ground beef, potatoes, and mushrooms, perfect for family gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 2 medium potatoes, diced
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 1 cup mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil or butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Fresh herbs, such as parsley or thyme (optional, for garnish)
  • Bell peppers, diced (optional)
  • Green onions, sliced (optional)
  • Spices such as paprika, chili powder, or cumin (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prep the vegetables: Dice the potatoes, chop the onion, slice the mushrooms, and mince the garlic.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, add olive oil or butter. Add the diced potatoes and cook for about 10 minutes until they soften.
  3. Add the chopped onions and sauté until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
  4. Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it up with a spatula, and season with salt, pepper, and optional spices.
  5. Introduce the mushrooms and minced garlic, stirring together for another 5-7 minutes.
  6. Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary; let everything cook together for another 5 minutes.
  7. Garnish with fresh herbs and serve immediately.

Notes

For best results, use a cast iron skillet and avoid overcrowding the pan. You can serve alongside crispy arugula or fried eggs.
