  • Author: Marlene Quinn
  • Total Time: 27 minutes
  • Yield: 4 dozen cookies 1x
  • Diet: Vegetarian

Description

Delightful melt-in-your-mouth cookies perfect for the holiday season, shaped into festive symbols.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • Optional: Almond extract for additional flavor

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  3. Add in the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla (and almond extract, if using). Beat until fully combined.
  4. Gradually add the flour, stirring gently until the dough forms.
  5. Fill the cookie press with the dough and choose your desired shape, or chill the dough for easier handling if rolling and cutting.
  6. Pipe the cookies onto ungreased baking sheets or roll out and cut shapes with cookie cutters.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
  8. Let cool on the sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks; decorate as desired.
  9. Serve and enjoy with warm beverages or gift them!

Notes

Make sure to soften the butter beforehand for a light and fluffy texture. Avoid overbaking for the best results.
