Ingredients
- Fresh mushrooms (about 20 large)
- Cream cheese (8 oz), softened
- Garlic (2 cloves), minced
- Fresh herbs (like parsley and thyme)
- Grated Parmesan cheese (½ cup)
- Breadcrumbs (½ cup)
- Olive oil (1 tablespoon)
- Optional: chopped bacon or sausage (for added flavor)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Clean the mushrooms gently with a damp cloth, removing dirt.
- Remove the mushroom stems, finely chop them, and set aside.
- In a skillet over medium heat, drizzle in olive oil. Add minced garlic and chopped stems, stirring until fragrant, about 3 minutes.
- In a bowl, combine the sautéed mixture with cream cheese, herbs, Parmesan cheese, and breadcrumbs. Season with salt and pepper.
- Fill each mushroom cap generously with the mixture, piling it slightly on top.
- Arrange on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and drizzle with more olive oil.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, until tops are golden.
- Let cool for a few minutes before serving, garnished with fresh herbs.
Notes
For a tangy twist, substitute goat cheese for cream cheese. Use gluten-free breadcrumbs for a lighter version.
