Ingredients

- 1 cup unsalted butter, at room temperature
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups of assorted mix-ins (chocolate chunks, nuts, dried cranberries, etc.)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Cream together the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the egg and vanilla, beating until well combined.
- In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
- Fold in the assorted mix-ins.
- Scoop mounds of dough about 2 inches apart onto the prepared baking sheets.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are golden brown and centers are soft.
- Allow to cool on baking sheets before transferring to wire racks.
Notes
Chill the dough for 30 minutes before baking for thicker, chewier cookies. Rotate baking sheets halfway through baking for even cooking.
