Description
Soft and buttery cookies with a sweet, gooey center and a crisp powdered sugar exterior, perfect for the holiday season.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cubed
- 8 oz cream cheese, full-fat
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/4 tsp salt
- Optional: chopped toasted pecans, walnuts, dried cranberries, orange zest, ground nutmeg
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare your baking sheets.
- Cream together the butter and cream cheese until smooth and pale.
- Add granulated sugar and beat until fluffy, then add eggs and vanilla, beating again until combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing just until combined.
- If the dough is very sticky, chill it for at least 30 minutes.
- Scoop dough into balls and roll in powdered sugar until fully coated.
- Place the dough balls onto parchment-lined baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Bake until edges are set and tops crack slightly, about 10-12 minutes.
- Allow to cool on the pan for several minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
Notes
For an extra buttery finish, brush melted butter over warm cookies and dust again with powdered sugar. Consider chilling the dough if it’s overly soft for better cookie shape during baking.
