- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 cup softened butter
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp peppermint extract

Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In a large bowl, beat together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Mix in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the peppermint extract.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
- Scoop tablespoons of dough, roll into balls, and place on the baking sheet about 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, until the edges are set.
- Gently press a chocolate kiss into the center of each cookie as soon as they come out of the oven.
- Let cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
- For an extra festive touch, sprinkle crushed candy canes on top before cooling completely.
