Description

Delightful holiday cookies with a rich chocolate base and vibrant peppermint burst, perfect for festive gatherings.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 cup softened butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp peppermint extract
  • Chocolate kisses

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, beat together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Mix in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the peppermint extract.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
  6. Scoop tablespoons of dough, roll into balls, and place on the baking sheet about 2 inches apart.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes, until the edges are set.
  8. Gently press a chocolate kiss into the center of each cookie as soon as they come out of the oven.
  9. Let cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  10. For an extra festive touch, sprinkle crushed candy canes on top before cooling completely.
