Description
Delightful holiday cookies with a rich chocolate base and a chocolate kiss on top, perfect for festive gatherings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Hershey’s Kisses or any chocolate candy
- Powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the vanilla extract and egg until well incorporated.
- In another bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually incorporate the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined. Chill the dough for 30 minutes if too sticky.
- Roll the dough into small balls, about 1 inch in diameter, and coat lightly in powdered sugar.
- Place the dough balls on the baking sheet, spacing them 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 8 to 10 minutes until slightly puffed, then press a chocolate kiss into the center immediately after baking.
- Let cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
Notes
For best results, do not overmix the dough after adding flour, and ensure butter is at room temperature for easy creaming.
