Description

Delightful holiday cookies with a rich chocolate base and a chocolate kiss on top, perfect for festive gatherings.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Hershey’s Kisses or any chocolate candy
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the vanilla extract and egg until well incorporated.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Gradually incorporate the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined. Chill the dough for 30 minutes if too sticky.
  6. Roll the dough into small balls, about 1 inch in diameter, and coat lightly in powdered sugar.
  7. Place the dough balls on the baking sheet, spacing them 2 inches apart.
  8. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes until slightly puffed, then press a chocolate kiss into the center immediately after baking.
  9. Let cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

For best results, do not overmix the dough after adding flour, and ensure butter is at room temperature for easy creaming.
