Description

A comforting and flavorful pie that combines rich Monterey Jack cheese, savory sausage, and earthy mushrooms, perfect for family gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 store-bought or homemade pie crust
  • 1 pound sweet Italian sausage
  • 1 cup fresh cremini mushrooms, chopped
  • 1 cup Monterey Jack cheese, shredded
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Fresh thyme or chives, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Roll out dough and fit it into the pie dish. Prick the bottom with a fork.
  3. In a skillet, cook sausage over medium heat until golden and fully cooked. Drain excess fat.
  4. Add olive oil to the pan, sauté onions and garlic until fragrant. Add mushrooms and cook until soft.
  5. In a bowl, combine cooked sausage, sautéed veggies, and shredded cheese.
  6. Spoon filling into the prepared crust, spreading it evenly. Top with additional cheese if desired.
  7. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until crust is golden and cheese is bubbly.
  8. Cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

For an extra crispy crust, consider par-baking it for about 10 minutes before adding the filling.
