- 1 store-bought or homemade pie crust
- 1 pound sweet Italian sausage
- 1 cup fresh cremini mushrooms, chopped
- 1 cup Monterey Jack cheese, shredded
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- Fresh thyme or chives, for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Roll out dough and fit it into the pie dish. Prick the bottom with a fork.
- In a skillet, cook sausage over medium heat until golden and fully cooked. Drain excess fat.
- Add olive oil to the pan, sauté onions and garlic until fragrant. Add mushrooms and cook until soft.
- In a bowl, combine cooked sausage, sautéed veggies, and shredded cheese.
- Spoon filling into the prepared crust, spreading it evenly. Top with additional cheese if desired.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until crust is golden and cheese is bubbly.
- Cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
For an extra crispy crust, consider par-baking it for about 10 minutes before adding the filling.
