Description

Delightfully crispy homemade cheddar crackers infused with fresh herbs and a touch of garlic, perfect for sharing or enjoying on your own.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup finely grated sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon freshly chopped herbs (e.g., rosemary, thyme, or chives)
  • Optional: 1 teaspoon smoked paprika or cayenne

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the cheddar cheese and softened butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Gradually add the flour and salt, mixing until the dough starts to come together.
  4. Toss in the chopped herbs and optional spices if desired.
  5. Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 1/8 inch thick and cut into desired shapes.
  6. Place the crackers on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden and crisp.
  7. Let cool on a wire rack before serving.

Notes

Ensure butter is softened but not melted for a flaky texture. Allow space between crackers on the baking sheet as they expand while baking.
