Description
Delightfully crispy homemade cheddar crackers infused with fresh herbs and a touch of garlic, perfect for sharing or enjoying on your own.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup finely grated sharp cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon freshly chopped herbs (e.g., rosemary, thyme, or chives)
- Optional: 1 teaspoon smoked paprika or cayenne
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the cheddar cheese and softened butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Gradually add the flour and salt, mixing until the dough starts to come together.
- Toss in the chopped herbs and optional spices if desired.
- Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 1/8 inch thick and cut into desired shapes.
- Place the crackers on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden and crisp.
- Let cool on a wire rack before serving.
Notes
Ensure butter is softened but not melted for a flaky texture. Allow space between crackers on the baking sheet as they expand while baking.
