Description

Delightful candied apples adorned with candy eyes, perfect for Halloween festivities.

Ingredients

Scale
  • Fresh, crisp apples (Fuji or Granny Smith)
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup corn syrup
  • Food coloring (optional)
  • Candy eyes
  • Optional toppings: crushed nuts, sprinkles, or shredded coconut

Instructions

  1. Prepare Your Workspace: Wash and dry apples thoroughly. Insert sticks into the tops if needed.
  2. Make the Candy Coating: In a saucepan, mix sugar, water, and corn syrup. Cook over medium heat without stirring until melted.
  3. Monitor the Temperature: Use a candy thermometer and cook until the temperature reaches 300°F (hard crack stage). Optionally, add food coloring.
  4. Coat the Apples: Dip each apple in the candy mixture, swirling to coat evenly. Let excess drip off.
  5. Decorate: Before the coating sets, add candy eyes and roll apples in desired toppings. Place them on parchment paper to cool.
  6. Storing Your Treats: Store in an airtight container in a cool, dry place for up to three days.

Notes

Ensure apples are thoroughly dried before coating for best adhesion and texture. Use a thermometer for precise temperature control.
