Ingredients
Scale
- 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
- ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- ½ cup brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup chopped dried cherries (or maraschino cherries)
- 1 cup chocolate chips or chunks
- Powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, mix the dry ingredients: Combine the flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Whisk until evenly mixed.
- Cream the butter and sugars: Beat the butter with granulated and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Incorporate the eggs: Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- Combine wet and dry ingredients: Gradually incorporate the flour mixture into the creamed butter mixture, then fold in the cherries and chocolate chips.
- Scoop the dough: Use a tablespoon or cookie scoop to drop dough on the baking sheet, spaced about 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes: Cookies should be set around the edges but soft in the center.
- Dust with powdered sugar: Let them cool completely before sprinkling powdered sugar on top.
Notes
For extra chocolate flavor, consider adding an extra tablespoon of cocoa powder. Ensure butter is at room temperature for easy creaming.
