- 2–3 lbs Pork Shoulder
- 2 cups Apple Cider
- 1 Onion, sliced
- 4 cloves Garlic, minced
- 2 Sprigs Fresh Thyme
- 2 Sprigs Fresh Sage
- 2 cups Chicken or Vegetable Broth
- Salt and Pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Season the pork shoulder generously with salt and pepper.
- In a heavy-bottomed skillet, heat oil over medium-high heat and sear the pork on all sides until golden brown.
- Remove the pork and sauté onions and garlic in the same skillet until translucent.
- Deglaze the pan with apple cider, scraping up brown bits.
- Return the pork to the skillet, add herbs and enough broth to cover at least half of the meat.
- Bring to a gentle simmer, cover, and transfer to a preheated oven at 300°F (150°C) for 3-4 hours, until fork-tender.
- Let the pork rest for 15 minutes before shredding and serve with the sauce.

For deeper flavor, make this dish a day ahead. Adjust broth as needed during cooking.
