Description

Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • ¾ cup warm milk (100–110°F)
  • 3 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 large egg
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla (optional)
  • ½ cup granulated sugar (for cinnamon sugar coating)
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar (for cinnamon sugar coating)
  • 23 tablespoons ground cinnamon (for cinnamon sugar coating)
  • 3 tablespoons melted butter (for brushing)
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened (for dip)
  • 3 tablespoons powdered sugar (for dip)
  • 1 tablespoon sour cream or plain yogurt (for dip)
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract (for dip)
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice (for dip)
  • Pinch of salt (for dip)

Instructions

  1. Bloom the yeast by whisking the warm milk with the sugar and yeast. Let it sit for 5–8 minutes until foamy.
  2. Whisk the egg into the yeast mixture and add the softened butter and vanilla.
  3. Mix the flour and salt in a bowl and add the wet ingredients. Knead until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover it, and let it rise until doubled, about 45–60 minutes.
  5. While the dough rises, mix the cinnamon sugar coating ingredients and prepare the cream cheese dip by beating all dip ingredients until silky and smooth.
  6. Turn the risen dough onto a floured surface and roll it into a rectangle about ¼ inch thick. Brush with melted butter, sprinkle with cinnamon sugar, fold, and cut into 1-inch strips, twisting each strip.
  7. Preheat the air fryer to 350°F. Arrange twists in a single layer in the basket and air-fry for 6–9 minutes, flipping halfway through.
  8. Brush with extra melted butter and sprinkle more cinnamon sugar while warm. Serve with cream cheese dip on the side.

Notes

For a richer flavor, use brown butter. Adjust sugar in the dip to taste. Serve warm for the best experience.
