Description

Delightful flaky pastries filled with sweet cinnamon and sugar, perfect for breakfast or as an afternoon treat.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons granulated sugar
  • Pinch of salt
  • ½ cup cold unsalted butter
  • ½ cup cold milk
  • ½ cup sugar (for filling)
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • Optional: ½ teaspoon nutmeg

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, and salt. Cut in cold butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  2. Slowly pour in cold milk until dough forms. Knead gently on floured surface for 1-2 minutes. Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  3. In a small bowl, combine sugar and cinnamon. Optional: add nutmeg.
  4. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Roll chilled dough into a rectangle about ¼ inch thick. Spread melted butter and sprinkle cinnamon-sugar mixture over it.
  5. Slice dough into 1-inch strips, twist each strip, and place on a lined baking sheet.
  6. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown. Optional: drizzle with powdered sugar glaze before serving.

Notes

Ensure butter is cold for flakiness. Avoid overcrowding the baking sheet for even cooking.
